Swimming Classes in Sharjah

As far as I know, Sharjah is the best place in the UAE that no one has heard about when it comes to swimming lessons. The pools are big, the club is very nice, and ladies’ coaching is regular, not special, and fees are significantly lower than Dubai for similar coaching. There are several Dubai residents residing in the area of Mirdif, Al Nahda and Al Qusais who are nearer to a club pool in Sharjah rather than in their own emirate. Here is the actual scene. The scene itself is what it looks like.

Why Sharjah Costs Less

The price of lessons is largely determined by venue costs, and Sharjah’s swimming takes place largely in club and municipal facilities, but not in hotels. That one distinction is a big percentage cut in the hourly wage. The price of group sessions typically ranges from AED 45 to a maximum of AED 90, while Dubai’s group pricing falls in the semi-private range. The quality of the coaching reflects each instructor and not the emirate – it is a saving and not the consequence of a compromise. The only place you can tell the difference between swimming classes sharjah and Dubai is after the block discount.

The Club Pools Worth Knowing

There are several structured programmes at Al Azra and Al Majaz facilities, as well as at Sharjah Sports Club and Al Nasr facilities on the opposite side of the border, for children and adults. They are correct 25 metre swimming pools, with lane ropes and swimming deck space, and allow a coach to train. A club pool allows the club to conduct lane work, timed sets and turn practice which would not be possible in a compound pool.

Ladies-Only Sessions Are Standard Here

Slots for women are not an occasional feature, but are regularly scheduled on the timetable in Sharjah. Screened pools and enforced entry controls are common, and female coaches are common. The best time for availability is early morning to early afternoon, and a smaller amount in the evening. Early bookings are important, as is booking early in the term, as they tend to fill up quickly. This emirate reduces women’s concerns about not learning to swim due to modesty better than Dubai does.

School and Community Pools

Many schools in Al Nahda and Muwaileh host swimming lessons for outside guests after hours in their swimming pools, while a few residential communities offer lessons in their shared swimming pools, which are led by instructors. These slots are cost-effective and convenient to install, and are not very likely to show up in search results due to the fact that they are not marketed. If you ask a local academy where they teach, the choices you would find wouldn’t come up anywhere else.

Fees and Block Structures

Typically, blocks of 8 or 12, with longer validity periods than in Dubai. Check to see if it is included in the price; some places may have a separate entry fee for the parent. Inquire about make-up sessions and if the fee is raised when timetables are drastically rearranged at the end of the day with lots of evening sessions during Ramadan.

Coming From Dubai

The reason for travel makes the difference. The drive from Mirdif/Al Qusais is short,t and outside peak hours or early morning/afternoon, avoid the corridor altogether. It is often not worth it from downtown or the marina, other than looking for a particular coach. For anyone who wants to consider structured swimming training in sharjah versus a more close-by Dubai, they should make the drive cost them the real cost of time, as two hours a week of driving is the cost of saving.

What Day One Actually Looks Like

The entry process to the club in Sharjah is more formal than a hotel swimming pool. Please bring an Emirates ID for the adult attending and arrive 15 minutes before the first session with a short registration at reception. There are several places where caps are required, and some at the desk for sale. However, changing facilities are not luxurious, but functional. The first session is typically an assessment session – the coach will watch the swimmer for a few minutes and place them in a level; send them expecting to swim, not a session for induction!

Adults and Older Beginners

The adult provision here is much better than in many parts of Dubai, with daytime capacity available to take up at a club pool,l and they are generally more willing to run small groups. There are many morning slots between 9 and noon, and usually these are the most affordable on the timetable. Both male and female coaches are available, and two friends learning together can bearranged ass semi-private lessons directly with an instructor. This format will make it much easier for anyone who has been putting off learning because they felt “exposed” in group classes.

Quality pools, actual lanes, good provision for women only, and reduced rates for ladies. Before signing anywhere else, Sharjah is worthy of a visit.
